A day trip up from Yosemite valley. My first experience of altitude. Wondered why the hire car was working hard, even though I had a couple of hitch-hiking volunteer Rangers with heavy packs in the car. Really noticed when I walked up some steps to a visitor centre. Only around 2,600 m.
